PowerPoint Presentation on the Millet
Tomorrow I am giving a presentation in my Archaeology: Rise and Fall of Civilizations class on the Millet. I honestly had no idea what a millet even was, at first I thought it was someone's last name, but its actually a type of grain. It was domesticated before rice in Northern and Central China and there are four widely cultivated millet species used today: 1) Pearl Millet 2) Foxtail Millet (one of the earliest crops in the early Neolithic China) 3) Proso Millet - Common Millet (also one of the earliest crops in the early Neolithic China) and 4) the Finger Millet. The Millet was first seen around the late Pleistocene and early postglacial when the climate changed from cold to dry to warm to moist conditions. There were 3 main places where millet was found in excavations: Dadiwan, Peiligang and Chishan which were all located close to the Yellow River. Soon hunter-gatherer communities begin to harvest and propagate millet in the northern regions of China.

My First Pet On My Own
So I have a new fish his name is Streaks and he is a Beta fish. He was very shy when I first got him but at the pet shop he wasn't too lively or too boring so I picked him out of the bunch (plus he is so pretty). Well I bought his a half gallon tank and he has blue and gray rocks with two floating plastics bushes (because they wouldn't stay down) and one large plastic fanned bush of which he likes to swim around or sleep under. When I first got him the pet shop just poured him into a bag (not nicely) and my fish hardly had water to swim in, it was ridiculous! But my Streaks was a trooper and now he has two friends in his tank (a pink glass turtle and a tiny glass blue whale) and he has a multi-colored night light that he loves to watch.

Daily Discoveries
Saw my 2 Spanish professors today (they are married) Cortabarria and Brunell (such sweet teachers!) in Daisy's Cafe and they asked how I was doing, I responded fine and Cortabarria asked me if I was still doing computer stuff... I responded yes and she said Oh good.. She also continued to tell me that at the Department meeting they had yesterday she nominated me to do their Web Site for the Language Department and apparently all the rest of the department teachers had agreed.... Sigh... My life of being the #1 Web Designer/Editor on campus (would be be great if I had time to do everything everyone wants me to do).

Favorites of the Day 9/9/10
First lets start with my favorite sayings of today:
- "The victors write the history books."
- "The hand that rocks the cradle, will rule their world."
Now for my favorite story-tellings of today (not my stories):
"I get nauseous every time I drink white rum. Well it was at Calculus Camp..." - SBC Teacher
"My dad likes to trick me so one time when my boyfriend sent me a present that were cowgirl boots he sent them to my dad and being my dad he wrapped the cowgirl boots and put his name (From Dad) on that present and then wrapped his present (which was beef jerky) and put my boyfriends name on it... So my birthday rolled around and I was talking to my boyfriend on the phone and he told me to open my present... I opened the present to find it was beef jerky and I was shocked that he got me beef jerky but I told him I loved it and he was like Oh I'm so glad you like them I spent like $130 on them, which shocked me because I didn't know where he got this beef jerky from that had to have cost that much... but in any case I told him that he got all the flavors I liked and he was like what? That's when I realized my dad was behind this prank!" - Becky Bonney '12 (My roommate)
Media Resources
Today I learned of many different Media Resources used today that can be used to either market yourself or your company/business. I learned of Blogging (which I just created as you can see) Wikis which is basically an easier way to organize messaging with large groups of people without the hassle of millions of emails that you might not even see, then I learned about Delicious the best way to keep track of all your bookmarks and be social in sharing them with others! Then there was Podcasts which are commonly associated with iTunes (which almost all of us use on a daily basis anyway) and these podcasts are just short little blips of video showing you information fast and straight to the point... This works great for businesses and commercial marketing for products (also for children who are being fussy you can just subscribe to a specific television show podcast and tad-ah! there is a short 3 minute clip of that child's favorite show downloaded onto you iPod). Another two that everyone already knows about are Facebook and Twitter so I wont go into much detail about those.
But all these will help you get either your product known by many or get yourself out there to be known, whichever you choose is all up to you.
